The Core Values Index (CVI)

There are a lot of "human assessments" available to help coaches and their clients better understand their strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities to improve.

Of the dozen or more that I have taken over the years, I have chosen The Core Values Index or CVI as the one I use with all my clients.  There is even a free basic version for people to try!

So, what makes the CVI my assessment of choice?  Well there are a number of reasons:

  • It takes only 10 minutes to complete.  Who has time to spend an hour or more answering a bunch of questions?

  • I can debrief my clients on their Core Values Index scores in an hour and they will understand what the assessment is telling them and how to use it.  If you have ever taken the Myers Briggs Type Instrument or MBTI, you know how difficult it can be to understand these kinds of assessments.

  • Everyone's profile is unique to them.  When you get your "numbers" using the CVI, you will be getting a profile that is unique to you.  This isn't about type casting anyone into a "box" but rather about opening the door to a better understanding of your unique nature.

  • Most importantly, the CVI provides you with unique strategies to be more effective in your life.  If you have ever felt frustrated, hurt, incompetent or stupid (and who hasn't), this is the tool for you.  Using this tool, you can learn how to manage these negative emotions and the unproductive behaviours that come with them.

Developed by Lynn Taylor of Taylor Protocols, this assessment helps you to understand where your "core" energies come from or in other words what "fuels" your success

And, as a result, it is a great tool to use for Team Building exercises and even for improving the hiring process.  Please click here to take your free CVI and contact me for additional information.

The LeaderSTEP Program

The LeaderSTEP Program is a FREE weekly newsletter that provides you with a leadership tip, skill or way of thinking every week.  Why every week?  Because personal growth and professional development take time.

If you have ever attended a seminar, course or conference on leadership, you have undoubtedly taken away a feeling of inspiration, perhaps one or two key tips or techniques and at least some commitment to deploy this new knowledge in your place of work.  Unfortunately, it is incredibly difficult to keep this commitment under the pressures of day-to-day life.

LeaderSTEP provides you with a regular reminder that you are a leader and that you have leadership talent that deserves development.

LeaderSTEP is a weekly, easily read and digestible newsletter that gives you:

  • a specific tool, tip or technique for the week,
  • a skills challenge to actually deploy that tool, tip or technique in your career and in your life,
  • an inspirational or thought provoking quote,
  • a recommended book to read or sometimes a video or website on leadership to check out,
  • and, the opportunity to become a better, more effective leader...over time.

LeaderSTEP is free.  You can subscribe below and opt out at any time.
